Responsiblities
As the Assistant Director of eLearning Services Aline provides leadership for the design and development of online courses for Northern Illinois University and our continuing education partners. The focus of her position is to work closely with administration, faculty and clients to provide instructional and technical advice in the development and support of quality online education experiences, grant development and research. This includes maintaining expertise in technology-based learning solutions, such as learning management systems, desktop video conferencing, animation development, gaming and simulations, virtual environments, social networking, and podcasting.
Expertise & Interests
Aline has provided leadership in online education for NIU since 1998. Her background in electronic media, web development, educational technology, project management and leadership of the highly successful eLearning team demonstrates her passion for her job and for NIU. Her goal is to provide the NIU community with online courses that are not only ahead of the curve in innovation and interactivity but also in quality.
Aline balances her eLearning career with pursuing a doctorate and raising a family of three with her husband, who also works for NIU. Aline came to NIU as a freshman in 1979 and has spent the past 29 years as a member of not only the NIU community but also the DeKalb community. Aline is also a regular
presenter at the Distance Teaching and Learning Conference,
but can also be found presenting at SLOAN-C, AECT, and the
Games Learning and Society Conference.
Last year Aline was invited to present at the
SUNY Learning Network Summit as an expert on utilizing virtual worlds for online education.
What does Aline do when she isn't reading technology magazines?
1) Run/walks (the dog needs the exercise)
2) Organic gardening (the neighbors call it a weed patch)
3) Movies (favorite all time movie is Blade Runner)
4) Gourmet cooking (her kids would rather have Mac & Cheese)
5) Live music events (all three kids are musicians)
