Writing Strategies for Students K-8
Project.
Title: Project Real-Writing Strategies for Students K-8
Client: N/A
Year: 2005
Challenge.
Teaching K-8 students how to write well can be a challenging task. Teachers need to learn new ways to help students improve their writing skills.
Solution.
A Flash-based module was developed to equip teachers with strategies that they can use to help K-8 students improve their writing skills. The module first describes the writing process and provides examples of different writing genres. It then explores the 6+1 traits of writing as a means of teaching writing to K-8 students, and describes the steps involved in conducting a writer’s workshop. Self-check quizzes are included to test one’s understanding of the information presented in the module.
